Winter Bright SSK cards

Wow it's another chilly one here today! With the windchill it's expected to be highs anywhere from -20 to -25C....lol...next week -7C yah! That will be a HEATWAVE!
I am off on a field trip with Chloe this afternoon to the Festival of Trees. She is singing with her school choir there. Oh joy, a bus load of kids screaming...ugh! I'd rather drive myself but don't want to pay the parking downtown Edmonton! It's outrageous!
Carla from Moralia weblog sent me some stamped images and I couldn't wait to use this one in particular! It's so funny! I don't know who makes this stamp but if I was to guess, it's probably by High Hopes. If you know...holler at me ;) Thanks Carla for these super cute images!
I added glitter on the snow and coloured the image with my blender pen and inks.
I had stamped some of these ornaments from Hanna Stamps last week and thought they'd look nice with the paper from the WinterBright SSK. I'm so happy that Nancy made me nice RAKs with it...I had to break down and buy the kit after that!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Tic Tac Snow and a Bookmark

Last night I sat down to work on this Tic Tac Snow boardgame....it was so much fun! I got the idea from Christina at Flowers and Ink. I'd made something similar last spring but it never crossed my mind to do it this way!! Thanks for the fab idea Christina!
I'll try and explain what I did.
The game board was a magnetic sheet that I cut down to 6 x 6. I then covered it in a piece of Soft Sky Prints Paper. Drew the lines every two inches with a Not Quite Navy Marker. The game pieces are made with the Merry & Bright snowman. He's so cute and I'll miss him terribly when he's gone! I used the Scallop Punch, 1 1/4", 1 3/8" Circle punches and paper piercered the edges. I then stuck a magnet on the back of them. Now they don't move all over the place! I matted the whole thing on a piece of Blue Bayou CS that is 8.5 x 9 and stamped it with the snowflakes in Blue Bayou ink. The header is a made with Soft Sky cardstock. I stamped the Whimsical Alpha in Soft Sky and Blue Bayou. The snowflake brads are from a dollar store. I added a piece of double stitched Blue Bayou around it. After finishing I used a piece of cardboard to attach the whole thing to. Just for some extra stability. I am REALLY liking these bookmarks....they are so fun to make! Check out the tutorial here. I am going to make them for Chloe's class this year and give them out before the Christmas break.
Time to fly....I haven't crafted yet today...time to make something....LOL
Have a GREAT evening!

Card with Matching Bookmark and Cover

This morning I finally had a chance to stamp something new! Not that all those teacher cards weren't new but I mean I got to try something NEW! Sharon from No Time to Stamp had instructions on these super cute bookmarks with a cover! I started out with the Dashing DP and went from there. The Merry & Bright set has been one of my favourites this holiday season. I'll be sad to see it go.
This week we are having our bookfair at the school. On Thursday they draw a name for one child to come down and choose some free books. I think I'll give this to the lucky winner! I'm sure they can use a bookmark right?! ;)
The bookmark and card is for Nancy Morgan's challenge on her blog Paper Smiles. She asked that we make something with DP and then give it away.

It's still snowing here....this is only day TWO of having to pull out the shovel....and let me tell you....I am hating it already! Can you imagine we still have another 4 or 5 months of winter??? UGH!

More teacher birthday cards....

I haven't had one minute to stamp today! Whew! This morning before heading off to do some volunteer work I sat down to start addressing my holiday cards. So far so good but I'm only at the G's...haha! I finished up the teachers birthday cards last night. Thought I'd take a few pics of them to show you. I enjoyed doing them all but boy it was a big weekend job!
I'm hoping to get some stamping in tonight while watching the hockey game. Chloe says she feels great today....so we will try karate tonight. I'd rather not but the doctor told us not to stop and she knows when she needs to slow down.
We got a BLAST of winter today! WHEW! It was -27C with the windchill and the snow...ugh.....

Birthday Cards

This day has felt sooooooooo long! The dog does not realize it's the weekend so at 5:48 am she's in my face telling me she has to go do her business! LOL! I couldn't fall back to sleep so I got up, made my coffee, read the paper and emails. Chloe didn't get up until after 8 am. Brian is away all week so it's just the two of us...well three counting Snickers...lol
I worked on a couple of Christmas gifts earlier but can't show them on here right now as my friends will see ;)
The cards below are a few that I made for the school. They've asked me to make 30 birthday cards for the teachers. I've kept them fairly simple. I am about half way there....it's taking longer than I thought it would!
Chloe seems to be doing better. Her heart episodes seem to be happening a lot less often. Think she had one yesterday and one today. That's a lot better than the 5 or 6 times a day earlier this week. Will be waiting for that specialist to call though! Thanks to everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers!

Sketch Challenges

Finally able to get some cards made! I have an order of 30 birthday cards(6 men, 24 women) for the school teachers birthdays. I did the mens cards first...I find man cards very difficult to make. Then I started with the other cards. I'll show those all when I'm finished, which I'm hoping is by tomorrow evening!
I did manage to get this card done for Lauren's sketch. I needed a break from birthday stuff!
I changed the sketch a bit. There was supposed to be a sentiment in the top left corner BUT I'd already covered up tons of this really cool designer paper. I wanted something on there so I went with Circle of Friendship in the right hand corner instead....lol You can't tell from this picture but there is glitter on the snowmans buttons and hats.
I'd been trying all week to get to Jen's card challenge. Last night I sat down and made this. You were to use flower stamps, designer paper and ribbon. I wanted to try and make it look like a glass vase so I added Crystal Effects. I think it turned out okay.
Time for me to get some dinner for Chloe. Brian is hunting for the next week so it's just her and I eating. I find it hard to cook for 1 1/2 people...lol
It's hockey night tonight! Go Oilers!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Update on Chloe

Last night the doctor called and said that all Chloe's tests came back fine....her ECG and chest xrays were normal and her blood tests showed nothing either....SO....now we are waiting to get into a Pediatric Cardiologist at the Children's Hospital. She is still experiencing the chest pains and heart racing. I'm trying hard not to stress!
Today has been another busy day. I was at the school all afternoon helping set up for our schools Scholastic Book Fair next week. I never realized how much work goes into set up...5 of us and it took 2 hours! LOL!
Ok funny story....
I live a block from the school but had some errands to do this morning before working lunch program so I just parked at the school on my way back....After school when I got home, Brian says....ummmm why did I walk? I said, I always walk....he said well your car is across the street from the school...OMG...I'm such a dork....I had to go back and get my Jeep...ugh! Funny thing is....if I had looked out back and not seen my car there, I probably would have thought someone stole it! I'm blaming my "moment" on all the stuff I have going on with Chloe....my brain is fried!
No time or energy to stamp tonight...hopefully tomorrow I'll have some creativity!
Hope you all have a safe and happy weekend!

All about stitching....

Still no news from the doctor. I called twice today and finally on the last call I was informed that he returns all his calls after his day ends. Apparently that is anytime after 5:30...ugh....this wait is killing me!
I'm off to the Oiler hockey game tonight but thankfully Brian will be home to talk to him if I'm gone. I'll let you know how it goes!
Today was the Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS. It was all about stitching. Now you know I can't sew....but I'm not sure which is worse, my machine sewing or this All in a Row stamping! haha! I even used the SAMJ....bet you can't tell eh?!
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Flaky Friends
Cardstock: Choc Chip, Cool Caribbean, Shimmery White and BG Figgy Pudding DP
Inks: Black Stazon, Cool Caribbean, Choc chip, Really Rust, Summer Sun, Ruby Red, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie and Always Artichoke

SCS Sketch and Colour Challenge Combined

This afternoon I sat down to stamp a little. Things have been hectic the past couple of days and I have never wanted time to pass so quickly before. I thought if I stamped I'd pass some of the time. I'll be talking to the doctor tomorrow afternoon about Chloe's test results.
I went to see Rhea at R&R Scrapbooking this afternoon too! I got a Scor-Pal! YAH! Can't wait to use it!! If you haven't gotten one and would like one, she sells them too. Just email her asking about them. She doesn't have them advertised on her site. I paid $39.99 for it.
The card above is a combined challenge from SCS. Yesterday you were to use Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink and Shimmery White. I have used these colours before and LOVE them for Christmas! The layout is from todays sketch on SCS.
Hope you all are having a great day! To all my American friends, Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

No cards today was busy with doctor app't

I had wanted to stamp some new things today but Chloe has been having some heart problems. I didn't want to leave her at school today so I stayed and worked in the library all morning. Then after lunch she had an app't with the doctor. He sent us off for an ECG, chest X-ray and blood work. She was SUPER brave! I on the other hand got whoozy just seeing her blood being taken...ugh! We will have to wait until Thursday afternoon before we get any results. If everything comes back normal he is going to send us to a Pediatric Cardiologist. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers that there is nothing seriously wrong.

First let me apologize for the not so good pictures. The lighting just isn't right today and I don't have any of those fancy lights to get the perfect picture...lol I move around the house shooting in various spots til I find one that is acceptable.
I don't like to use the flash as it washes the colours out but today I had no choice....
This first card was made for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I'm a little late getting to it but I MUST always do it ;)

Pennant Banner Noel

When I saw this Pennant Banner tutorial yesterday on SCS I KNEW I had to do it! It was simple to follow although it probably took me nearly 2 hours from start to finish. Let me just say, I'm NOT good with decorative scissors....rofl
I used the Figgy Pudding DP and Cool Caribbean Cardstock. The ribbon is from MayArts and matches pretty good!! The letters and snowflakes are SU! chipboard from the Mini Catty.
I taped the pennants to the ribbon with sticky tape and then used a Pewter Jumbo Eyelet on each corner. Should hold pretty well....I hope!
The chipboard letters were covered in Choc Chip Craft ink and heat set. I then coloured the snowflakes with Cornflower Blue Making Memories Paint and dumped Heat and Stick Powder on them. After heating that I used Dazzling Diamonds. IRL it's really sparkly!
To attach the letters and snowflakes I used Crystal Effects....that stuff is wonderful!
Well I must run....my company will be arriving shortly! I will have to catch up on all my usual blog challenges tomorrow sometime.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Some challenge cards

Thank goodness it is the weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing my friend, Karen, tomorrow! She is coming up to visit us and go to the Oilers vs Flames hockey game! We have front row seats along the boards...can't wait!
I don't want to be stamping while she is here so I'm going to try and get a few more challenges done after these ones so I'll have something to post this weekend ;)

B) Choose either ONE...a Designer Paper or an Embellishment
C) Choose one specialty tool
D) Limit Layers
E) Use any colouring tools
I think I followed the rules pretty good this time! I used 3 different stamps from the Priceless set, chose Designer Paper, used the Paper Piercer.

Paper Tree

Two posts in one day! Been a long time since I have done that!
I wanted to show you what I finally finished. I saw one of these trees in the Paper Crafts Magazine but I think the lady used ribbon to do it. I used some of that designer paper from the other day. I didn't want to cut up tons of ribbon or use really great paper....just in case it turned out crummy....LOL
I think it looks okay! What do you think?
On the top I punched out a 1"circle in Real Red and glued that on.
I used a SU! Onboard Star and covered it in Heat and Stick Powder, heated it up. Then I used some Martha Stewart Glitter...Garnet colour. I did BOTH sides of the star and used Crystal Effects to hold it on.

Just some cards I guess....

Finally the winds calmed down today...not after having some damage on our roof though. Thankfully the weather is supposed to be fairly nice the next few days and it will get repaired on Friday.
One of the ladies from our school office will leaving this week. She has taken on a job in another school which is part time. It'll be sad to see her go as she does so much for everyone! The parents of our school wanted to get her some flowers and gift certificate so I made a card to put it in. I think it turned out really well. I'm still practicing my watercolouring.

Today is my friend and nosey neighbour, Sandy's birthday! This is the card that I made for her from my other nosey neighbour and myself! LOL!
It's WICKED windy here today...with wind gusts up to 100km/hr! I'm missing some shingles off the front side of my roof! UGH! Will be fixing that later in the week when the winds die down.
I received a Stampin'Up! order this afternoon and when I opened the box there was Dazzling Diamonds EVERYWHERE! ugh....now I have glitter all over my leather couch and suede pillows...lol...can't wait to see Brian stretch out tonight...hehe! Time for me to start dinner...

Holiday Cards

Today I have a mix of cards to share with you. I feel like all my creativity went out the window last week after coming up with cards for my SAS...LOL...Anyone else ever have that problem? If so, how long til it comes back???
This first card I made for Jeanne and Sherry's Just Because We Wanna Challenge. You were to stop hoarding that Designer Paper and USE it! I had bought this gorgeous My Minds Eye paper a few weeks back at a local scrapbooking store but didn't want to touch it. So I pulled out a piece of it and got to work!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Hanna Stamp and Circle of Friendship
Cardstock: Ruby Red, WW and My Minds Eye DP
Inks: Black, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Ruby Red
Accessories: 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds, Blender Pens, 1 1/4", 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Dimensionals and May Arts Ribbon
OK I feel that I need to explain this next card....lol...some of you may even recognize the layout. Yesterday while waiting for Chloe to finish her curling, I flipped through a Paper Crafts Magazine. Think it was the November issue. Anyway, somewhere in there was a card with this layout. I thought....hmmmm I can do that but with SU! stuff. Well ummmmm....here it is....rofl! The one is the magazine is WAY better...trust me! I'll add this to my Mom's pile of cards I'm sending....she always likes everything I send!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Snow Flurries
Cardstock: Always Artichoke, Soft Sky and Wintergreen DP
Inks: Soft Sky
Accessories: 1/2", 7/8"Circle Punches, Dimensionals, Soft Sky Double Stitched Grosgrain
I'm sure many of you have gone over to Nancy Morgan's Paper Smiles. If you haven't....you better ;) She has some of the BEST cards out there!! This week's challenge was to make a card that was simple, with the Designer paper doing most of the work. Then you are to send it to someone for no reason...just because! Well it fit perfectly with something I was going to do! I needed to make a quick set of cards for my Mom's friend. I popped this set in the mail to her today and put a little note....Happy Early Christmas! I know everyone likes to give homemade cards so why not ship her some ;)

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets: Circle of Friendship and Season of Joy
Cardstock: Glorious Green, Real Red, WW and Reminisce DP
Inks: Real Red and Glorious Green
Accessories: Snowflake Chipboard, White Craft Ink, Iridescent Ice, Scallop Punch, Circle Punches, Misc Ribbons, Dimensionals, Silver Elastic Cord,Word Window Punch

A couple of different challenges...

Happy Sunday everyone!

It's already been a busy day here. Chloe and I headed to Michael's and the grocery store first thing this morning. Then back to watch some Remembrance Day ceremonies on tv. I managed to get a couple cards done and now I'm getting ready to watch the Nascar race. Go JEFF! Chloe has curling right SMACK IN THE MIDDLE of the race....darn....lol....so hopefully I can get back home in time to watch the ending...good thing I have Sirius Satellite radio in my Jeep!

After cleaning up from my SAS last night I sat down and made this box that Lauren shared on her blog. Isn't it cute? Go on over to see her wonderful instructions!

This card I made for Beate's weekend sketch #27. I loved this sketch! I haven't used the coluzzle in a bit so it was nice to dig that out ;) I added a little bit of stickles on the snowflakes and the snowline. Snowman stamp is by Penny Black.
Since I had the supplies out, I figured I'd make another quick card. I'm almost out of this Wintergreen Designer paper and I can't remember if it is one I ordered with the SU! paper deal going on right now.

Time for me to run and tidy up my mess before the green flag is thrown! Sorry I don't have time for any recipes of the cards. If you need to know something...just holler at me!

ETA: I distressed this card with my scissors...just ran the blade along the edge...

SAS card

Today I had a Stamp A Stack in my home with some friends! What a blast we had! We stamped...we ate...we chatted! I always love get together like that! I sure hope that my friends all had fun too!!
This is one of the cards we made. I typically use ALL SU! stuff but when I found this reindeer stamp last summer in California I knew I'd need to use them sometime this year! The Jingle Jingle Jingle was a stamp I found in the Michaels $1.50 bin last week! PERFECT eh?!
This was a simple card and went quickly...other than the Red Stickles which will take time to dry...haha!
We stamped the Reindeer in Timber Brown Stazon onto Shimmery White Cardstock and then matted it on a piece of Choc Chip cardstock. The reindeer have been coloured with Fun Flock! We used a two way glue pen to apply it! So cute eh?! We tied some Gold Elastic Cord around the card twice and tied it in a knot. After using dimensionals to attach the center panel the girls then added some red stickles to the bells and some even did the noses!

Jen....shoot me an email with your snail mail address and I'll get this out to you!
Thanks to everyone for stopping by....I think the majority of you LOVE fall!

A simple birthday card....

Today I finally had time to make a birthday card. I have made so many Christmas cards lately that I've gotten behind on birthdays...ack!
Jen70 had a challenge on her blog this week to make a birthday card using shades of pinks and browns. PERFECT for what I needed!
This is a simple card. The Designer Paper is from a stack that my neighbour gave to me. I used Close to Cocoa and Regal Rose cardstock and the stamped images are from Sassy Stems and Stem Sayings. I finally got to open my new Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon....so pretty and easy to work with! I watercoloured with my aqua painter and re-inkers...still practicing on that!
Have a GREAT night!
I'll be back shortly with the winner of the blog challenge ;)

Door Prizes

Well now that I have my SAS cards all cut and ready to go, I needed to work on some door prizes for the girls. Here are some that I managed to get done and crossed off my To-Do List for today! This is the first time I have made one of these paper bows. They are super easy and quick to make!! You can find the tutorial I used HERE. I also decided to do a Genie Bag. First for this too...LOL. A tutorial can be found HERE for the bag. I think I made add some thick ribbon for handles to the bag so it's easier to carry. I didn't have any tissue paper to put in it so you could see the opening.
The little tag bag was just something I put together. I used up scraps from the bag to make 6 tags. I stamped To and From on the back with the stamp from Punch Pals. The cardstock base was 7.5 x 5 and just scored at the top to fold over the bag. I punched holes with my Crop-A-Dile so I could thread some ribbon through to tie it shut.
I'm off to do the other 5 things on my list now ;)
Hope everyone is enjoying their day! The sun is out here...YAH! The snow is still here unfortunately...ugh!

Celebrating 20,000 hits!

WOW! My neighbour called to tell me I was at 20,000 hits! Holy cow! Can't believe it! When I started blogging it was so that I could share my creations with my family and friends.
It's amazing all the new bloggin' friends I have made in the past 6 months! I have learned so much from everyone!!
To celebrate this milestone, I'd like to give away a little blog candy. Now it's nothing spectacular...lol
Since it snowed yesterday and the snow is STILL here, I needed to give some bright cheerful stuff away.
Included are: Maya Road Chipboard Flowers, Felt Flowers, Friends Brads, Flower Clear Stamps AND some of these cute little Christmas stamps from Michaels.
The draw will take place on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm Mountain time using Random Org. The winner will be posted that evening and have 24 hours to contact me.
To enter the draw: Please tell me what your favourite and least favourite seasons are and why.
(most of you know I hate the long winter...but love the holidays)
This is open to everyone...around the world, whether you are a blogger or not.
ONE entry per person please.

Thanks and Good Luck!

ACKKKK! SNOW!

YEP! You read it right....SNOW! Last night when I went to bed it had started to rain, when we got up this morning...there was snow on the ground! I know it won't stay but it's the evening now and it's STILL here! Guess I'll pull out the snowboats for tomorrow! HAHA!
I had a little time this morning to work on a couple of sketch challenges from yesterday. I really enjoy doing them!!
This is Lauren's sketch. Be sure to check it out! I needed a bright pick me up card after a dreary start to the day. I know many stampers are using Copic Markers but I just can't spend that money on them. I find that my SU! markers work pretty good on WC paper with the use of my aquapainter.
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: MFT By The Seashore
Cardstock: Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Watercolour Paper and Misc DP
Inks: Black Stazon, Choc Chip, Earth Elements Markers
Accessories: Pumpkin Grosgrain, Prima Flower and Crystal Brad, AquaPainter
This next card is for Jen from i{heart}2stamp's sketch. I found this My Minds Eye Designer Paper at my LSS last week. Thought it was soooooooo pretty! I pulled out a Retired SU! set called Merry. I bought it last year and never inked it up. The largest snowflake in the set seemed to work really well with our Snowflake Punch in the catty. What do you think?
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Merry(retired)
Cardstock: Choc Chip, Soft Sky, WW and My Minds Eye DP
Inks: Soft Sky, Choc Chip
Accessories: SnowFlake Punch, Stickles, Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, Dimensionals
