Sketch and Challenge Cards

Good Wednesday Morning!

Wow where has this week gone? I'll be glad when it's the weekend though....lol

This morning I had a chance to do the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I am in need of another card for my workshop this Saturday and I thought this one might work out perfectly.

After getting feedback from the girls on SCS I decided to try it with a red apple as well. You can see that card in the next picture.

Tell me what you think? I'd love to hear your opinion on it. Any suggestions you might have would be very helpful!

All That Scraps Design Team member do a challenge each Wednesday and you can find it on our ATS Blog later today.

This week we were challenged to use a CC Designs background. Unfortunately I currently only own one of them and it's the Big Ol' Stripes. I decided to make it a plaid background.

Figured it worked good for a manly card ;)

I coloured Jack Handyman in Copic Markers and went around the outside of him with a C1 grey marker.

I'm running out of these cool screw brads and will have to get myself some more. They are awesome with Jack!

If you have a chance to play along with us and upload to SCS or the ATS gallery be sure to use the keyword ASTDTC05.

This last card I made for Cindy's sketch in the SCS My Favorite Things forum.

It's MFTSC35, I think....lol

I found this cool American Crafts DP in my drawer and thought it paired well with the chair in this image. Gotta love when that happens eh?

This is a large card at 5.5 x 5.5. You know I don't often make cards this big but they are fun and difficult at the same time. Filling in space can be frustrating!

Well thank you for stopping by today. Sorry my post is a little off. I loaded something on another blog with the LEFT picture clicked and forgot to change it back...lol
If this comes out all funky after I publish, I will re-do ;)

Nice job on all of them. My suggestion on the apple card since you asked would be to make the second and the fourth apples on the bottom red. HTH.

Hi Dawn, I like both the apple cards but I do think the red apple is a little more appealing. Lots of love, Denise x

i'm lovin' the tart & tangy set... just have to make a few cards of my own. i really like them both, but the red apple caught my eye first, and the apple makes the sentiment pop a little more too. those SCS girls are full of great ideas!

Great cards today, Dawn. I love the workshop card! Between the two version, I like the red apple best for the pop it gives the whole card. Awesome coloring on Jack Handyman. Love those screw brads. And that MFT sketch card is totally yummy. Awesome paper to go with the image!

Very fun cards to look at! I especially like Jack and the screw brads! I also like the red apple better! It looks perfect with the "GOOD" colored red as well.

Hey Dawn! I really like all of these cards! That MFT card is especially great!

For your workshop card, I like it with the red apple, and the word "good" red. What about circle punching the apple with a scallop circle punch piece behind it and raise on dimensionals for more depth?

Your apple cards are so fresh and pretty, Dawn!! Your little fix-it guy is adorable, and I love your coloring and created background!! I also love how that paper matches the chair is you MFT card!! Great cards, Dawn!!

I totally echo what ravengirl said! "Ditto!" I love where you place the brads on the handyman card, agree with everyone else about the red apple, as well, and agree that it goes so well with the word "GOOD" colored red with it, too. I love your cards, it's a highlight when I can stop by and check them out. Keep up the great work!

Oh Dawn, shame on me for not stopping by the past few days, I am so sorry! I would have to say the red apple makes such a cute statement! Interesting about the photo info, jpeg versus jpn I think you said. I have to see if I have that option. I do tinker in Photo Shop 7.0, but I am lazy about editing my cards before I post. Sometimes it seems as though one spends more time posting and being on the computer than creating! LOL! Take care, Deb

I vote for the red apple. It totally POPS against the green. Very cute card by the way.

I love the red apple, I find that the red sticks out more then the green. I also love the How sweet card. I have the same stamp and just love it. Great job.

I like the red apple more - it's great! how about 2 red brads in the lower left of the main panel (the dp?) that could make it pop & triangle out for appeal. I love ALL your cards ALL the time

Allison Rankin said...

Terrific cards...I like both apple ones so I am useless to ya!

All your cards are beautiful! As usual! :)

They all look great Dawn! I do like the red apple... maybe even keeping the top apple green and making one of the bottom apples red?

I just discovered your blog. These are all 3 darling cards. On the apple card, what about adding a layer of black under the focal layer to make it pop a little. I look forward to seeing more of your designs.
