Brrrrrrrr it's cold!

Good Morning!

Woke up to more snow and more cold -24C with windchill(-9F). I guess I shouldn't complain since winter really only arrived for us last week. Typically we see it late October around Halloween or early November. So this little extra time has been a nice suprise! Last night was Chloe's Christmas Concert at school. I hope I got a few good pics but will have to wait til I charge my battery again....lol

Yesterday afternoon I worked on some more thank you cards. I know this seems like a strange one to give in December or January after Christmas but I also have an upcoming birthday and it's nice to send thank you's for the gifts I receive.

Today it's Whachadoin' Wednesday at Storage Unit, Inks & More. This week Mary Jo challenged the girls to create a card to hold a gift. Well that bookmark I made a few weeks ago needed something right? Well I used the word window punch to make a hole wide enough for the bookmark to slid down into. The ghost snowflake stops it from going in too far.

I will give this to Chloe for Christmas with a few books that we picked up at Chapters. She loves to read which is a wonderful thing and I want to encourage her as much as we can.

Jen Ofiana from ATS challenged us to a FABULOUS colour challenge for today! I used Jen's sketch from i{heart}2stamp for my card. After colouring the snowman's mittens brown I think the sort of look like potatoes for hands....oops!

I didn't get any of the SUINK holiday sets so I used the All Holiday Sentiments set. I actually like the way it turned out with a simple sentiment stamped on the front. The Heidi Swapp Snowflake doesn't show up that well in the picture but IRL it adds a nice shine to the card!

Storage Unit, Inks & More is not releasing any new stamps for the month of December so Denise has asked us to do a review of some old sets. I really like this A Touch of Class. When it first came out, I couldn't put it down! I was making backpack tags like crazy....well now I've moved onto these bookmarks! I forgot I had these bookmarks from SU!(retired). It's always a pleasant surprise when you find things like this...lol

I filled mine with some Reeses Pieces...yummy eh?! I stamped the Reindeer from the Sugarplum North Pole in Palette Noir onto Shimmery White Cardstock. Then coloured with my Copics. Remember a couple of weeks ago when I made this card below? Well knowing the challenge coming up for today, I went ahead and made a little hot chocolate packet for Brian and I to take with us to the ski lodge this weekend! Last year I picked up these cute little Martha Stewart boxes and knew they'd come in handy some day! The outside was decorated with Frosty Days DP and stamps from the Aspen set by SUINK.

In the box is enough hot chocolate for two mugs, mini marshmellows, 4 peppermint hersey kisses and two mini candy canes....YUMMY!

Last night while watching the OILERS KICK BUTT in hockey....I worked on these little bags using my new nesties! Aren't they cute? With the holidays fast approaching, I thought it would be nice to have some little bags ready to go for those last minute gifts if need be.

I made a boo boo with the first one....tried to use my Key Tag punch to do the handle and it jammed...ugh...so I used a nestie to cut it out to cover it up...that's why it's so close to the top.

For my image panel I first stamped the flower in Creamy Caramel and then Choc Chip. I then sponged the panel with Creamy Caramel, then Close to Cocoa and then Choc Chip on the edges.



I love the look of a monochromatic card but don't do them very often. I'm more of a colourful card person. I thought these colours would be nice for a Sympathy card that I was in need of.

Storage Unit, Inks & More has a challenge out today too! Whatchadoin' Wednesday is about Treats for our Sweets!

Do you still need a last minute treat holder for Halloween? Already done with that, how about a special treat for a loved one. Could be cookies, candy, cupcake any type of sweet treat and a creative way to present it.

This is what I came up with!

We are trying not to do sweets in this house and I wasn't about to buy some for this project so I pulled out some Pumpkin Seeds ;) This was a super easy holder to make. A 4.25 x 11 piece of cardstock. Scored at 4.5, 5.5 and 10. I used my nesties to cut a hole in the front so you can see the clear bag full of pumpkin seeds. Easy peasy! My love for Hawaiian Papaya DP

Good Wednesday morning!

Here we are....half way through the week...yippee! Tomorrow I am at a casino fundraiser for the school all day. Should be interesting as I have NO clue what I am doing...chip runner is all I know. Oh well, it's for the kids and the school right?! I'm sure it will be fun!

Yesterdays Colour Combo was awesome!!! One of my favourites lately!!!

You know what that means??? Yep...I used Hawaiian Papaya DP....but not on this first card.

This first one is pretty straight forward. I actually can't believe I didn't use and DP on it but then the stamp is large and I'd cover up too much of it....so why waste it right?! Wish SU! had markers in the new in colours but they don't so I used some Fantastix that Beate got me hooked on when she RAK'd me some last Spring :) They work wonderfully for applying ink to the flower pieces with re-inkers.

This week at Storage Unit, Inks & More, Mary Jo challenged us to make an invite! Any invite but with Thanksgiving this coming weekend(here in Canada) I thought this was appropriate. I decided on a fairly simple pocket card for my design. The pocket measures 4.25 x 4.25. The insert was typed up on my computer and printed off on white cardstock. I added some cute pumpkins from the Bountiful Harvest set and doodled around the edges. When the invite is inside the pocket the turkey image is behind the young girl scalloped circle.

This will fit inside a regular sized envelope.

SCS Sketch Cards

This morning after Chloe headed off to school I had a chance to sit down and work on todays SCS sketch challenge. I really think it's my favourite challenge out of all of them ;)

My first card is a SU! only card!

I added some Dazzling Diamonds to her shoes and coloured the sentiment with my markers for added interest.

This stamp set is a new one from Storage Unit, Inks & More and is called Vote for Me. There are many patriotic images in this set and since I'm Canadian I thought I'd use the more generic images. See you can still use this set in other ways ;) I think this card would be great for someone running for School President or School Council.

SUInk Happy Thanksgiving

Today it's my turn to share a sneak peek from SUInk.

In Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving much earlier than my friends in the US. So I was happy to receive these holiday sets early. We always seem to miss out on Thanksgiving sets.

The set I am showing you today is called Bountiful Harvest.

There are many images in the set but I chose to use the young girl as my main image. She was coloured with my Copic markers and the edges sponged with More Mustard. I even pulled out the sewing machine for this card...don't look too closely at my sewing though ;)

A couple of challenges...come play!

Good Wednesday Morning

I think I'm coming down with my first cold of the season....wonderful...ugh! Today is going to be super busy as it's our Family BBQ tonight at the school and there is quite a bit of prepartion still to do. Oh heck...everything still...haha!
