A great mix today!

I had intentions to get so much done around the house today but it just didn't happen...LOL
My sister came by again today with her boys. They wanted one last play time with Chloe before school starts on Tuesday. Since we don't live really close we don't see one another through the school year as often as we'd like. The kids have a blast together too!
This first photo is of a 4 x 4 flipbook I made with the Bind-it-All yesterday. Lisa has a GREAT tutorial on her blog HERE. I haven't added any pictures or anything to it yet. Was thinking of taking Chloe out to snap some and dress this up as a gift for my Grandmother.
Once again I was thrilled to see Beate get her sketch challenge up on her blog this morning! I think sketch challenges are my all time favourite!!! I'm not the most creative person and sketches really help! If you want to do her challenge then click Sketch Challenge #17
I got my GinaK Make a Wish stamps today....so I HAD to use them!

Another RAK and SC139

I'm not liking that I have things to do in the mornings. It takes away from my crafting! Today we went and picked the mountain bike up from the school. It's a prize for our fundraiser. Well it came UNassembled. So I volunteered my husband to put it together....LOL...I'm really good at volunteering my friends and family! Then Chloe and I had to get a bday present for a party tomorrow. We stopped and got gas for my lawn mower. I mowed the front then I HAD to come inside and craft! Now that I am done...MAYBE I will go mow the backyard, I just hate moving that trampoline....ugh!
What a FANTASTIC surprise today! When I opened my mail, there weren't ANY bills again AND I got this AWESOME card from Jody! This was one of her cards she did for the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges! Isn't it GREAT??? Thanks so much Jody! Made my day! Be sure to check out here blog HERE!
These next two cards are for todays SC139 on SCS.
The fairy card was pretty easy, but I did it second....so I had practice!
That brown card....well that's another story. I struggled with where to put a sentiment on it, decided to leave it blank. Mom will love it....haha!

Pretty Pink Pomegranate Challenge and some chatting...

Oh what a busy day this has turned out to be! School isn't even back in yet and the volunteering has begun. I'm supposed to be President of the Parent Association this year....but a final decision hasn't been made(by me) if I am going to do it. It's a lot of politics...not sure I have a backbone for that! Since we are having our Meet the Teacher/Family BBQ two days after school starts, I had to get the burgers and buns ordered today. Then I stopped by the school to let the Principal know everything is a go. She informed me of a couple of things going on and then the Head Administrator grabbed me to book me for the class photo day on September 11th. I said sure no problem! I then volunteered my neighbour to help too! We don't mind, the photographer compensates us for our time with gift certificates toward our kids pictures. It's win win really, we get free pics and I get to make sure Chloe's hair looks pretty before her pic ;)
OK now onto the cards....LOL....bet you didn't think I talked to so much...oh sure you did!
Todays colour challenge on SCS was CC129 and it was to use Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink and Old Olive. I really liked these colours together!!
This first card I did the Cracked Glass Technique on the center panel. It's been awhile since I did that last. I sponged some Always Artichoke on the back Olive panel and paper piercer and punched the corners out. I used Linen background with Pomegranate on Pretty in Pink CS. I also sponged the edges on this layer as well. I think the rest is pretty straight forward.
Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets: Linen Background Stamp, So Many Sayings, Happy Harmony
Cardstock: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink and WW
Inks: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink and Always Artichoke for sponging
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Sm and Lg Oval Punches, Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, Versamark and Glassy Glaze Enamal, Sponges, Dimensionals, Double Stitched Pomegranate and Pink Grosgrain Ribbon

Stamp Set: Priceless
Cardstock: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink, WW and Basic Grey DP
Inks: Old Olive, Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Paper Piercer, Marvey Scallop Punches, Dimensionals and MayArts Pink Ribbon

Great Mail Day and Challenge Card

What a GREAT day to get mail!!! No bills either! YAH!
Today I received this card and spool of Tangerine Grosgrain Ribbon from Beate. A few weeks ago I won one of her sketch challenges and this is what she sent me!! I've been using a TON of this ribbon lately too...so it's perfect! Thanks Beate!
On SCS today it's Try a New Technique day....
Well I've never done either one of the Resist Techniques and I don't know why....haha
It was a pretty simple technique. I thought it was one that would take too long so I never attempted it.
I'd gotten this Autumn Leaves Winter Wonderland set sometime in June maybe and I've been wanting to use it.
On the glossy cardstock I stamped the snowflake in VersaMark and then poured Clear Embossing Powder on it....heat it up and then stamped the other snowflake in VersaMark and then brayered Bashful Blue over the whole thing. Then I wiped it with a papertowel. Such a fast and easy technique, I'll will definitely do it again!
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Autumn Leaves Winter Wonderland
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, MellowMoss, WW and Glossy
Inks: Bashful Blue, Black Stazon, MellowMoss, Pumpkin, Pretty in Pink and VersaMark
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, White Embossing Powder(for the sentiment), Bluebird Grosgrain, 2 Way Glue Pen and Iridescent Ice Powder, Corner Rounder Punch and Slot Punch, Dimensionals

Yesterday late afternoon I got to start on some of these phonebooks while watching the Nascar race. They are super fun and easy! I can see me making a TON of these for Christmas gifts this year!!! For my covers I taped two pieces of the cardboard that comes on the bottom of our SU! pattern papers. You know, the white one...ya...worked great!!

This ducky card was made for Jen70's blog challenge. She wanted us to make a cutesy card and use a pattern ribbon on the card. I also did something I had seen Dawn Griffith do, and that was colour some of the cirlces on the cuttlebugged piece with my white gel pen. Thanks for that tip Dawn!
Jen's blog is Stamping Therapy. Be sure to check out her weekly challenges.

Happy Saturday!
Have I ever told you girls what a FANTASTIC husband I have????
I was going to mention him today when I posted my card I made for Beate's sketch challenge because he bought me some new stamps while we were out yesterday....BUT today he was out by HIMSELF shopping and LOOK at some goodies he brought home for me!!! He said he found a new scrapbooking store on the other side of the city and they were having a 30% off sale so he couldn't pass it up! LOL...gotta love him eh?!
This Halloween card I made this morning for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #16. This was a GREAT sketch again! Thanks Beate!!! Oh and I can't wait to give that address book tutorial a go this afternoon!!! Will post that tomorrow.

This is the frame my sister, Jennifer, made today. It's cute isn't it?!! She used Basic Grey Oh!BabyBoy DP and my Zoofari stamps with some Apple Green Grosgrain Ribbon.

I have needed more frames for Chloe and figured this was girly enough for her! I used Basic Grey Oh!BabyGirl DP. I grabbed a MayaRoad Chipboard Flower and mooshed it in Perfect Plum Craft ink then sprinkled Iridescent Ice on it. Then I used my 7/8"punch for the center of the flower and glued it to the button with Crystal Effects. I also got to use some of my grosgrain ribbon I got from Jody's ribbon share!! It went great with this!

Mean Moms

I haven't had time to create just yet today but I wanted to post a little email I have gotten many times over the past few weeks....I don't know who wrote it, sorry. Take it and past it on if you like....
Mean Moms
Someday when my children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will
tell them, as my Mean Mom told me: I loved you
enough . . . to ask where you were going, with whom,
and what time you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours
while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must
learn that their parents aren't perfect.
I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough . . to say
NO when I knew you would hate me for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm
glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.
And someday when your children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.
Was your Mom mean? I know mine was. We had the
meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids
ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.

When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches.
And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was
different from what other kids had, too.
Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all
times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She
had to know who our friends were, and what we were
doing with them. She insisted that if we said we
would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve
to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work We
had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to
cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash
and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie
awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.
She always insisted on us telling the truth, the
whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time
we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had
eyes in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough!
Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn
when they drove up. They had to come up to the door
so she could meet them. While everyone else could
date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16.
Because of our mother we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's
property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.
Now that we have left home, we are all educated,
honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean
parents just like Mom was.
I think that is what's wrong with the world today.
It just doesn't have enough mean moms!

SCS Colour Challenge

Well todays Colour Challenge on SCS was a difficult one for me. I'm not a fan of Sahara Sand. As a matter of fact I have never even opened my package and do not even own an ink pad in this colour! I was going to substitute it Kraft for it but then I figured I was cheating since I did HAVE the correct colours.
Supplies for this card are:
Wanted and So Many Sayings(hostess), Itty Bitty Backgrounds and All in a Row Stamps
Choc Chip, Blue Bayou and Sahara Sand Cardstock
Choc Chip and Blue Bayou Classic Inks and Choc Chip Craft
Choc Grosgrain and Double Stitched Blue Bayou
SU! Chipboard and Round Tab Punch

This card was my second go 'round for todays challenge. I was going to make it a baby card then couldn't decide on a sentiment that looked OK on the card. So I ened up with this....lol
Supplies Used on this card:
Wild About You and You're Neat Stamps
Choc Chip, Blue Bayou and Sahara Sand Cardstock
Blue Bayou and Choc Chip Ink
Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon
Paper Piercer and Mat Pack, Oval Punches and Brads
Since those colours weren't my usual colours...I decided I needed to do another card to post on my blog.

This card uses the new In-Colours. I love Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky!! I think of the new colours these two are my absolute FAVOURITES!

View Master Card...

Ok so never before has a card taken me this long to make! Now it could be that I'm not a quick learner like the rest of you but holy cow....I almost gave up on this card!
This is for today's challenge on SCS. It's a View Master Card. I think it's really cool but I'm not so sure I will attempt to make one again. Three tries....2 and a half hours later....lol...I stamped the Ladybug in all the colours and one rock and rolled in Saffron and Wasabi.
If you have never done this View Master Card before...go give it a whirl and let me know how you make out!

Supplies Used all Stampin'Up!
Stamp Set: Garden Whimsy
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Barely Banana and Whipser White
Inks: Wild Wasabi, Real Red and So Saffron
Accessories: Photo Corner Punch, 1 3/8"Circle Punch, Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, Rich Regal Brads and Dimensionals

Yesterday when I was cleaning out the computer room I discovered my missing sketch book. It's been missing since probably JUNE...lol...although I hadn't noticed!

Anyway this card layout was one I jotted down from a blog or SCS, I'm not sure. So if it is someones sketch please let me know and I can give proper credit.

The Real Red Cardstock is on dimensionals and I ATTEMPTED to stamp the bees in the center of each. This picture is a little washed out. The cardstock is Summer Sun, Real Red, Whisper White and a scrap of designer paper(unknown).
I have been wanting to try using my Crop-A-Dile to do this dry embossing since I heard about it at Convention. When I was making this card I thought it needed something else. Normally I would pull out the mat pack and paper piercing tool and add a row of holes. Then a light bulb went off and I remembered this new technique that everyone is doing!

I like this simple card and I'm going to try and do more like this with different sentiments.
